A bit about me

I'm Asad — a Physics student with a passion for understanding how things work, whether that's the laws of the universe or the engineering of mechanical systems.

There's always something on the workbench. Some weeks it's a coding project, some weeks it's a car on the driveway — usually because I convinced myself it would be a quick job. That's pretty much been the constant. When I'm not tinkering, I'm usually chasing stories across borders, lost in a topic for longer than i intended, buried in a good book or at the piano. And on weekends, watching Arsenal systematically dismantle my will to live. The common thread through all of it is a love of learning, building, and exploring — whether that's a new place, a new idea, or a new challenge.

Currently based in the Leeds, open to anything that involves solving hard problems with creative solutions!

University of Leeds

  • Developing a strong foundation in core physics concepts including mechanics, electromagnetism, quantum physics, and mathematical methods
  • Gaining hands-on experience with experimental physics, including data collection, uncertainty analysis, and scientific reporting.
  • Working independently and collaboratively on structured lab work and assessed projects under time constraints
  • Building computational skills through programming in Python for graphing, functions, and data analysis
  • Currently on track to achieve a first-class degree classification.

TEFL Training - China

Jun 2026 - Sep 2026

Gotoco

  • Selected for a TEFL training programme with Gotoco in China, gaining hands-on experience in teaching English as a foreign language
  • Completed structured teacher training focused on lesson planning, classroom management, and communicative language teaching methods
  • Delivered English lessons to non-native speakers, developing adaptability and confidence in real classroom environments
  • Engaged in cross-cultural exchange, improving communication skills while working within Chinese educational settings.
  • Strengthened leadership, organisation, and public speaking skills through practical teaching responsibilities and feedback-based development

Academic Presentation

Jan 2024

University of Leeds

  • Collaborated with peers to research and deliver a technical presentation to an audience of leading researchers and lecturers.
  • Successfully synthesised complex information, answered expert-level questions, and received the most votes for ‘Presentation of the Day’.
  • Developed advanced skills in public speaking, critical thinking, and professional communication.

Research Intern

Jun 2023

University of Bradford

  • Selected for a competitive placement under the supervision of Professor Raj Patel - Head of Chemical Engineering
  • Applied principles of thermodynamics and materials science to solve real-world engineering challenges.
  • Developed a sustainable solar heater
  • Led a team through concept development, testing, and optimisation, resulting in a design 15% more efficient than existing models, receiving commendation by academic peers.
  • Gained valuable experience in sustainable energy research, team leadership, and professional technical reporting.
